Slow Sunday morning in the South Florida blogosphere so Eye on Miami gets their own post.

If Zimmerman thought this kid was so dangerous, he should have feared for his life and avoid confrontation like a normal human. If he honestly thought he could be hurt by a can of iced tea or a bag of skittles, he should have stayed in his car to protect his own life.B- Salty Eggs reviews the performances of Kraftwerk and New Order at ULTRA yesterday.
But this black boy was wearing a hoodie so he was dangerous and was asking for it.
By that logic, let’s expect mass rapes at ULTRA because all the girls there are asking for it.
Next was Kraftwerk, probably the most influential electronic act of all time. With a much larger crowd than had greeted New Order earlier, the legendary act took the stage through a blanket of darkness and with a tangible kinetic of intrigue. The meta-narrative explaining the band’s influence has been readily repeated: essentially their distinctive sound of repetitive rhythms, structural precision, and melody has been the sonic blueprint for electronic music since the 1970s. The fact that they were playing the biggest dance music festival in the world, which celebrates a sound they essentially pioneered, was highly apt and imbued their performance with a rich context.

During the bee, members of the audience are brought up to the stage to participate, adding to the fun. Each speller – cast and audience member – asks for definitions and for the word to be used is a sentence. To me, the absurd, strange and inappropriate sentences were the best part of the show. Delivered with a straight face, they kept us laughing for the entire two hour production.G- Obalesque weighs in on Stand Your Ground.
You properly comprehend that Florida voters will tolerate spinelessness more readily than softness, and that when it comes to our own safety we’re too stupid to differentiate knee-jerk idiocy from sensible policy.H- The YouTube of the Marlins gaudy home run thing seemed to make its rounds in the South Florida blogosphere...at Suntanned Mumford and Random Pixels.

does a nice job looking at the way the Marlins plan on using a shuttle to move fans and stadium workers from a remote lot and questions why a dedicated bike/pedestrian route from the Metro Rail to the stadium wasn't made a reality.There are certainly more creative approaches to provide a long-term solution to the parking problem faced not only by the fans, but also by the stadium’s neighbors (also in a low-income bracket) who will have to live with it. Like a permanent bike/ped route from the rail station to the stadium. It cannot possibly be that much harder to get legitimate funding to install a one mile-long bike lane with proper signage, and optimized timing of traffic signals. Right? After all, most bike lanes installed by the county are only about a mile or two long.I think folks are living in a pipe dream if they think the city, the Marlins or anyone else is going to start building dedicated paths for pedestrians and bikes through the City of Miami. This isn't Boulder or Portland or Eugene. This is South Florida where cars are king and everything else revolves around that fact.
Implementing a bike-share program, even on an experimental basis, would help promote healthier ways to get around. It would reduce pollution and traffic congestion, and preserve some of the livability the neighborhood has had since the demise of the Orange Bowl. How about offering some sort of discount or incentive to fans using bikes to get to the games? The possibilities are endless.
But if you plan on biking to the new stadium then good for you. Just make sure your deodorant is fresh and your will is complete and advise a loved one where you're heading. And for Pete's sake, carry ID of some kind.

Suspect sought in home invasion robbery, beating of elderly man

St. Johns County Sheriff's Office detectives are looking for a suspect after an elderly Hastings couple were the victims of a home invasion robbery Wednesday night.
The 74-year-old female victims said someone kicked open the rear door before 10 p.m. and then demanded money.
The woman said she didn't have any, so the suspect asked where the woman's husband was.
She told him that her husband was asleep, and the suspect ran in the bedroom and demanded money from the male victim.
The woman checked on her husband and found he had been beaten.
Dog that was shot is alive but struggling

The dog shot earlier this month is in serious condition at the Animal Emergency Hospital on Old Moultrie Road, and his owners are asking the community for help.
“He’s fun-loving,” owner Denise Wahl said about her 4-year-old white German shepherd, Sam. “I have two kids that he loves playing with ... He’s not vicious.”
Sam was shot twice after he bit a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputy on March 7, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. That deputy was taken to Flagler Hospital.

Concert at St. Anastasia

The final concert in this season’s series will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 5205 A1A South, on Anastasia Island.
The concert will feature organist and pianist Shannon McKay and violinist Helen Beke-Morin performing works for piano and violin by Brahms and Beethoven.
Florida news: Bear euthanized after biting woman

LONGWOOD (AP) — State wildlife officials say they’ve captured and euthanized a black bear that bit a woman at a central Florida apartment complex last week.
Officials say they found the bear near the trash bin of the same Longwood apartment complex Thursday morning. A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman said the 300-pound animal had lost all fear of humans and would continue to attack people if it was left in the wild.
Officials also captured the bear’s 14-month-old cub. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the cub will go to a captive situation.
Daytona Democrat seeks House seat

Daytona Beach resident Vilpin Verma, a family law attorney in his mid-20s, said he always desired to enter public service, but the “ideological battles” in Congress caused him to realize that no progress was possible without people working together.
This week, Verma announced he will campaign for the newly created U.S. House District 6, the congressional seat encompassing St. Johns and Flagler counties and most of Volusia County, on the Democratic ticket.

Torchlight Parade expected to cause traffic interruptions

The St. Augustine Colonial Grand Muster Torchlight Parade, a re-enactment of Spanish military parades of the 1740s, will cause traffic delays in parts of downtown St. Augustine on Saturday.
The procession starts at 8 p.m. at the Castillo de San Marcos and continues to the city gate on Orange Street, then south on St. George Street, east on Cathedral Place, south on Charlotte Street, west on King Street and north on St. George Street to Government House.
