What is anxiety?

After looking at many definitions of anxiety, which are offered by a variety of medical and psychological authorities, I can't help but think that something's missing. Typically anxiety is to find as a feeling of apprehension, fear, or worry. But to fully understand what it is and how it may be affected by hypnosis a much bigger picture must be looked at first. The fully developed adult brain has the ability to anticipate and simulate. As perceptions or imagination or match with predictive patterns it is natural to assume that something either extremely positive or extremely negative may occur. For instance, when seen guests accumulate under the Christmas tree in early December, it is natural to become anxious and excited. Insomnia and hypnosis

Insomnia, which is the chronic inability to sleep, can be affected by the use of hypnosis. Normally, the inability to sleep is a result of the failure of the brain to switch functions from those needed during the awake state to those needed for a restful sleep. During the awake state, the part of the brain that handles thought switching is activated. This problem solving part of the brain is critical for assessing opportunities and threats. However, during the same state it is not serve the same role. If the...

As I matured and grew older – and having survived a near fatal automobile accident – I decided that I wanted to focus on living rather than constantly working about my demise. Obviously, all of us are aware that life is going to end sometime. However, by choosing to live everyday to its fullest your life can become rich and rewarding.

If death is constantly on your mind, it is time to let these thoughts go. Anticipating any negative outcome such as illness and being the victim of a violent deed or accident may not be within your control. I remember one Eastern religious figure saying that if a problem is under your control then fix it, if not, why worry about it.

Worrying and obsessing about the...
