If you’re recently divorced, you may have been so focused on the actual separation process that your emotions and sadness have been kept at bay. Now the papers are final and you wonder what’s next.
Grieving is natural. Anger is natural. Regret, relief, sadness, and other emotions will probably be your companions as you start your new journey. However, it is important to start to develop your inner strength, your self-esteem during this time. Look at things in your life and focus on activities that re-enforce your personal strengths. When we anxiously await the arrival of a person who we love or are overly concerned about the possibility of an adverse situation occurring, our brain goes through an anticipation and simulation process. In fact, there is a specific part of the brain, which handles these natural functions. Interestingly enough, it is the same one that makes it possible for us to have imagination and which allows us to...

When your mind and body are relaxing, they are repairing. The largest part of our nervous system, which runs without your conscious awareness, has two modes. When you are in a deep state of relaxation, you are experiencing what is known as a parasympathetic response. This means that your digestion system and other major life-sustaining organs are fully functioning and your immune system is working at its best. The opposite state is called a sympathetic response. Typically those systems and organs that were operating at their best in the parasympathetic mode are now taking a subordinate role to those that are involved in your protection and safety. This latter condition is what happens when you are experiencing negative stress.
In this hectic, multi-tasking, chronic stress world, we are literally wearing ourselves out. Prolonged periods of sympathetic-protection mode...

Understanding that people with radical ideologies, liberal or conservative, don’t comprise a too significant portion of the constituency, Obama and Romney will need to target and appeal to a wide range of moderates and persons undecided if they wish to be elected to office.
