There were 11,919 housing units at an average density of 575.2/km² (1,490.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.25% White, 2.05% African American, 0.52% Native American, 1.26% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 1.14% from other races, and 1.65% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.56% of the population. There were 11,484 households out of which 25.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
