Plainfield is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 18,396 at the 2000 census. Its 2005 population, according to the Indiana demographic annual update, was 23,532. In October, 2005, Metropolis, an outdoor shopping mall opened. It is the largest on the suburban west side of Indianapolis. A new high school will open in August 2008.
