Auburn is a city in DeKalb County, Indiana, United States. The population was 12,074 at the 2000 census. Founded in 1836 by Wesley Park (1811-1868), the city is the county seat of DeKalb County. Auburn is the location of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival, held each Labor Day weekend, and of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum and the National Automotive and Truck Museum of the United States. The Auburn Cord Duesenberg festival is said to host the world's largest automotive auction. There were 4,927 households out of which 33.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.0% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
