Davenport is a city in the American state of Iowa that borders the Mississippi River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 98,359. A 2005 estimate tells that the city had grown slightly to 98,845. The city is part of the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. Davenport is the home of Palmer College of Chiropractic, the birthplace of chiropractic medicine and wellness technique. Saint Ambrose University is also located in Davenport. Davenport is the county seat of Scott County. Davenport often makes national headlines when the Mississippi River floods. It is the only city over 20,000 people bordering the Mississippi that has no permanent floodwall or levee. Davenport prefers the open access to the river for parks and vistas over having access cut off by dikes and levees. Davenport has adopted ordinances that any new construction in the floodplain must be elevated above the 100 year flood level or protected with walls. -- Source: Wikipedia.com Get your Free Davenport Home Buyer Relocation Packet today. What is most distressing is that since Reagan, we continue to have large number of voters vote totally opposite of their own good by voting for Republicans that rob us blind, cut off any social safety nets and make government largely ineffective. I wish I knew how we could get the message across to these [...]

I promise this won’t be too hard. All you have to do is remember what happened a year ago or so. Most quizzes would do this in January. They simply refuse to practice the art of procrastination. So for all you other procrastinators out there, can you remember what happened in 2011? 1) Well 2011 [...]
Someone asked me long ago why the American people would continue to vote for candidates like then Pres. George W. Bush. My only guess is that it must be the beaten wife syndrome. That no matter how bad things are going – and for the middle class the Bush Administration was bad all the way [...]

Dear Friends, Iowa talk-show hosts are a pretty small club. The corporate-owned “public” airwaves carry nationally syndicated crazies who are to the right of Genghis Khan. Local right-wing talkers – Mickelson, Conway and Deace – get paid handsomely to beat up on gays, the poor, minorities immigrants, women, teachers, etc., while defending the right of [...]

If corporations choose to join organizations like ALEC, they should be proud enough to let the country and their shareholders know. As mentioned many times before here on blogforiowa, ALEC tries to operate out of the light. As you also know, this is not good for democracy. So in the interest of helping ALEC come [...]
It looks like we are seeing the beginnings of the breakup of one of the most anti-democratic groups ever to foist itself on the American public. Slowly but surely the wheels are coming off the behind the curtain, under the rock organization known as ALEC as major corporations like Pepsi, Coke and Kraft Foods leave [...]
