Austell is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,359 at the 2000 census. Census Estimates for 2005 show a population of 6,566. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 5,359 people, 2,009 households, and 1,386 families residing in the city. The population density was 363.6/km² (942.1/mi²). There were 2,144 housing units at an average density of 145.5/km² (376.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 65.42% White, 24.58% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.90% Asian, 6.40% from other races, and 2.26% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.07% of the population. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.8 km² (5.7 mi²). 14.7 km² (5.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.18% is water.
