Auburn is a city in Barrow and Gwinnett Counties, Georgia. The population was 6,904 at the 2000 census. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 6,904 people, 2,260 households, and 1,846 families residing in the city. The population density was 499.2/km² (1,293.3/mi²). There were 2,322 housing units at an average density of 167.9/km² (435.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.80% White, 2.64% African American, 0.30% Native American, 4.17% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.23% from other races, and 1.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.35% of the population. The median income for a household in the city was $51,346, and the median income for a family was $52,695. Males had a median income of $37,392 versus $24,381 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,023. About 3.6% of families and 5.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.1% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over. -- Source: Wikipedia.com
