There were 4,750 housing units at an average density of 58.3/km² (150.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.58% White, 2.27% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.64% of the population. There were 3,730 households out of which 18.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
