There were 6,041 housing units at an average density of 90.3/km² (233.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.65% White, 0.90% African American, 0.68% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.09% of the population. There were 5,201 households out of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.6% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
