There were 4,294 housing units at an average density of 188.4/km² (487.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.45% White, 4.89% Black or African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. 1.77% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. Maumelle was Arkansas' best educated city, proportionately, with 51.7% of adult residents (25 and older) holding an associate degree or higher, and 45.7% of adults possessing a baccalaureate degree or higher.
